The best time to visit is December-April. Although it's hot on the coast then, you will avoid the north's rainy season. If you wish to visit the coastal area only, late July to early September is the "cool," dry season. Avoid June at all costs -- it's the wettest month. The area around Cotonou and the coast is generally hot and humid. In the north, it's about 10 degrees F/5 C cooler (days are humid, but nights are cool-to-cold). Bring a sweater for the evenings, especially from November-March, when the Harmattan winds blow steadily.
