attention with the dynamism of fast-forward Cairo. Driving directions: From the airport take El Oruba Avenue westbound and turn right onto Ramses Street. Continue over the 6th of October Bridge, through the Corniche El Nil and over the Kasr El Nile Bridge, where you will find the hotel on the left. One of the best ways to explore Cairo is by the inexpensive Metro system. Buses and minibuses are readily available, although taxis are a better option for visitors. Boats depart frequently for University, a landing over on the Giza side of the river. Every second boat continues south to Manial, Rhoda, Giza and Masr al-Qadima (old Cairo).
Accommodation : This hotel features 366 air-conditioned guestrooms over 21 floors, all of which have satellite television, wireless Internet and marble bathrooms with deep tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers. Patio doors open onto balconies with views of the 12th century citadel or the pool. Amenities : There are three outdoor swimming pools located on the roof terrace, surrounded by shaded alcoves, and 17 poolside cabanas offering large terraces, private sitting areas and their own individual showers and WCs. More active guests can head for the 24-hour Health Club which has floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Nile, and offers a range of equipment, with certified trainers and fitness assessment counsellors on hand to advise. Parking is complimentary, and staff at the 24-hour front desk can help to organise sightseeing tours; there is also a gift shop for souvenirs and newspapers.

Zitouni - Guests can dine in secluded alcoves with views across the Nile, and sample a wide range of Mediterranean specialities including dishes from Portugal, North Africa and Lebanon. Regional delicacies are created on the upright rotisserie and charcoal broiler, both located in the restaurant’s open kitchen. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bella - Private dining areas overlook the Nile. Serves traditional Italian cuisine, with fresh focaccia and ciabatta bread baked in the open kitchen’s wood-burning stoves. Open for lunch and dinner. Spice - Authentic Cantonese fare and traditional dim sum, presented in a restaurant with a contemporary Asian design and views over the Nile. Open for dinner. Aqua - The entrance to this seafood and sushi restaurant is flanked by two aquariums of tropical fish, leading to a modern black stone interior, which creates a sophisticated and formal atmosphere with views of the Nile. Open for dinner. Pool Grill - With shaded seating beside the hotel’s three outdoor swimming pools and convenient access to the health and fitness facilities, the Pool Grill offers informal dining. The menu includes grilled fish or meat, mixed salads, pastas and sandwiches. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Bar - Dark wood furniture, framed black and white prints, a pianist and discreet lighting make the Bar an elegant place to enjoy a cocktail. Lobby Lounge - Light refreshments and cocktails served in a traditional dining setting or around couches and cocktail tables for a more relaxed atmosphere. Afternoon tea served daily. Recreation : The Gezireh Sporting Club is three kilometres from the Hotel. The largest multi-purpose sporting club in Egypt, it offers 20 clay courts that are lit for night play.
