The endless long beach along the shores invites not only for
all sorts of aqua activities, but also for quiet and relaxing
walks - alone or with company. The beach is perfectly safe
and clean - the sea around Gambia is rich of gorgeous fish
and seafood. Inhale the fresh sea-breeze which is pregnant
with powerful iodine, while watching the fishermen's return
from their successful trips.
 The Kairaba Hotel offers sports activities and recreation
programmes for all age levels. While the less energetic may
prefer lawn croquet, table tennis, boule, (boccia), darts,
garden chess or a game at the pool table, the sportive guest
surely will appreciate the morning jogging along the beach,
aerobics, beach volleyball, water volleyball, archery, Tennis
and Squash.
Restaurants & Bars
The Kairaba has nine restaurants and bars serving a vast array of culinary pleasures from The Gambia and across the world. Our restaurants offer a mix of air-conditioned elegance, exotic dishes and live poolside cooking, all using the finest ingredients and prepared by some of the best chefs in The Gambia. Before and after dinner we offer a number of different bars located around the hotel for a relaxing cocktail. During dinner we present nightly entertainment in many of our restaurants and bars.
Shikra
The Asian-inspired menu in our newly styled à la carte restaurant is sublime and the décor has been updated to include intimate dining spaces to conserve privacy. The walls feature dynamic and inspirational artwork to add to your dining experience. Shikra is a spacious and well designed restaurant, offering a comfortable and relaxing dining experience. Enjoy a relaxing aperitif before being shown to your table and served by our highly trained, typically dressed waiters and waitresses. Dress code: smart casual – no shorts Opening hours: 19.00 to midnight, Monday to Saturday. Closed on Sundays.
Bodega
Casa Fernando Our Cuban-inspired restaurant, with live entertainment each night, offers al fresco dining at its best. We have a brand-new menu incorporating fresh local ingredients to provide an interesting array of delicious meals. Opening hours: 08.00 to 24.00, seven days a week.
Malimbe Restaurant
The Malimbe restaurant has it all. Located poolside it serves an à la carte lunch menu followed by a different themed buffet every evening. There are live cooking stations, including pasta, and a live grill station, where you can enjoy locally caught prawns, fresh chicken, meat and seafood including whole fish from the charcoal barbecue. Then to finish, our dessert station has tempting desserts, home-made by our in-house pastry chef. Opening hours: 09.00 to midnight, seven days a week.
Kingfisher Restaurant
The Kingfisher is the perfect place to start the day. Take a seat and we will serve you freshly prepared coffee or tea, while you help yourself to our fantastic international buffet breakfast. Try our live cooking stations serving delicious omelettes, pancakes and waffles. This restaurant has a fully air conditioned non-smoking dining room inside and a large outdoor terrace overlooking the garden, the pool and in the distance the ocean. Opening hours: 07.00 to 10.30, seven days a week.
Ice Cream Shop
Situated by the main entrance, and offering a wide selection of ice creams, coffees, cakes and sandwiches our Ice Cream Shop is not to be missed. We have a huge selection of ice creams, all made fresh by our international executive chef in-house. Not satisfied with just an ice cream? Then what about a cappuccino or an espresso? Enjoy them all in our air conditioned shop or sitting pleasantly outside on the terrace. Opening hours: 08.00 to 22.00, seven days a week.
Monsoon Bar
With a fantastic view over the gardens and on to the Atlantic Ocean, the Monsoon Bar is a fantastic place to enjoy a morning coffee or a special evening meal, which is available from our all day dining menu. The Monsoon Bar is located next to the Shikra with an outside terrace. Opening hours: seven days a week, happy hour 17.30 to 18.30.
