1 - Lake Nakuru
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
you will be met and commence your safari down into the Great
Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon
game drive. Lake Nakuru, the most famous of the Great Rift
Valley lakes. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its magnificent
birdlife especially the flamingos which seasonally flock there
in millions. A paradise for those who are particularly interested
in ornithology, the park also offers the opportunity of seeing
white rhino, the rare Rothschild's giraffe, large herds of
buffalo and various antelope, and perhaps a leopard resting
in one of the branches of an acacia tree. Accommodation at
Lake Nakuru Lodge or Lion Hill with a spectacular view of
the lake and surrounding acacia forest from the bar and pool
area. Overnight at the lodge. |

Day
2 - Masai Mara
After an early breakfast depart for Masai Mara with
a picnic lunch. Weather and roads permitting, the route will
take you through the lush tea plantations around Kericho.
Afternoon game viewing. Masai Mara is probably the most visited
reserve in Kenya, its dominant feature is the great rolling
plains of savannah grasslands, which feeds the greatest variety
of wildlife in Africa and indeed in the world. The concentration
of game is at its highest from late July through October when
the Mara host to the annual migration of more than a million
wildebeest. But game viewing is excellent all year round with
giraffe, buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, and Thomson gazelles
offering a rich choice for the predatory lions, leopards and
cheetahs. It should be noted, however, that during the rainy
season, the grass is very tall and some areas are likely to
flood, which may affect visibility and restrict game drives
a bit.
Our private tented camp is situated in a patch of reverie
forest on the brinks of the Mara River just outside the reserve.
Game drives are usually conducted in the early morning and
late afternoon where the animals are most active but your
safari guide will plan each day's activities according to
the movements of the wildlife. Normally, one of your days
in the Masai Mara will be spent on a full day game viewing,
bringing a picnic lunch to explore the farther reaches of
the Mara ecosystem. Also, the camp's location just outside
the reserve makes it possible to enjoy bird and game walks
escorted by your safari guide. Overnight at the Mobile Quality
Camp. |
