LOCATION:
The
Indian Ocean Beach Club is one of Kenya's newest hotels, with
all the hallmarks of one of the finest; it is located 25 miles
south of Mombasa town. It is situated in a prime location on
a quiet stretch of white sandy beach, bordering a marine park
on the Indian Ocean. Indian Ocean Beach Club is designed in
Swahili architecture, and is adjacent to history --next to a
16thcentury Mosque.
Once there, check out the century old chandelier given to the
Sultan of Zanzibar by British traders for landing rights, and
move through to the gardens to examine the six hundred year
old baobab tree. The pounding of the surf, the background rasp
of cicadas and the rhythmic waft of your ceiling fan all conspire
to make you let go and relax. |

ACCOMMODATION:
The
Indian Ocean Beach Club has a hundred rooms in clusters of
thatched cottages and double upper level whitewashed rooms
with flat rooms. Each room has its own verandah, en-suite
with bath/shower and separate toilet. Each room has beautifully
designed and crafted furniture plus air-conditioning and ceiling
fan, a hair dryer, concealed mini-bar and direct dial telephone.
The 19 m2 "village styled" club rooms all face the
beach. Non
smoking and rooms for the physically challenged are available
upon request. |

HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES:
There
is a 200-meter freeform pool and three plunge pools. There
are 2 floodlit tennis courts; volleyball, croquet, jogging
trail and bird watching are available. Windsurfing, catamaran,
sailing canoeing, pedalos, 2 windsurfing and scuba lessons
are free for all guests.
"Spices" serves breakfast and dinner imaginatively
on the first floor with added comfort of the sea breeze; lunch
is available on The Ocean Terrace. The Bahari Cove is an open
air, a la carte restaurant practically on the beach and serves
the finest shellfish and Swahili seafood. The dhow bar on
the beach, which has its own collection of multi-trunked baobabs,
serves cocktails and mocktails and is a perfect place for
a couple to appreciate the sundowners.
The Trader's Room at Indian Ocean Beach Club is fully equipped
to handle conferences or cocktail parties for up to a hundred
people. The Traders room is 90.25 sq. meters in size and can
accommodate: 32 delegates-classroom style, 64 delegates-theater
style, 16 delegates-boardroom style, 50 guest-banquet style.
The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is friendly and unobtrusive,
and there are smiles and greetings everywhere. State-of-the-art
equipment is available in addition to the full business center
to handle any need. |
