HOTEL DESCRIPTION: Sheshe Baharini means “A beautiful place by the sea” and has been our family’s private retreat since the 1970’s. Known locally as the “Castle” because of its striking architecture, the original building was set amongst acres of lush tropical gardens, lapped by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. As more and more of our friends came to visit captivated by the magical atmosphere and beauty, our father renowned for his legendary hospitality decided that he wanted to share this beautiful place with the rest of the world and this is how Sheshe Baharini was born. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation at Sheshe consists of 30 ensuite rooms in blocks of 3, all with private verandahs facing the stunning tropical gardens or the sea. There is an emphasis on relaxed comfort and luxury and all the rooms are elegantly appointed with individual colour schemes, hand carved hardwood furniture, walk in showers, ceiling fans, air conditioning, mosquito nets and in house phones. The rooms also feature original paintings by local artists. The seafront and superior seafront suites are a stone’s throw away from the beach and offer magnificent views of the ocean.

HOTEL FACILITIES: Today, Sheshe Baharini is a small, intimate hotel with a focus on luxury and 5 star service. In keeping with the design of the original “Castle”, the accommodation features elements of Moorish, Portuguese and African design reflecting the rich and unique history of the Kenyan coast.

There is a crystal clear pool situated in the centre of the gardens where you can laze in the water while watching the ocean and laughing at the antics of our resident tribe of Vervet monkeys.

As well as a cocktail lounge* on the roof terrace of the original Castle, 2 well stocked bars and a pizzeria with an Italian wood fired pizza oven, Sheshe boasts a beautiful, al fresco restaurant with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.

All our food is prepared in house by our skilled chefs using the freshest ingredients, always locally sourced where possible.

You will often see local fishermen bringing their daily catches to the kitchen doors in the morning for you to enjoy for dinner and there are few experiences more romantic than sitting in the restaurant watching the moon rise out of the sea and hearing the breeze whispering through the palm trees as you indulge in fine wine and delicious, freshly caught seafood.
