CITY TOUR DESCRIPTION

HALF DAY VISIT OF DAKAR: (From 9 :00 am  to 2 :30 pm)

Visit of the various Markets of the capital  town of Senegal : Kermel, Sandaga, and the handicraft market of  Soumbedioune, you will also go through Tilen market famous for its medicinal herbs and  its traditional healers.
Visit of the Great Mosque, stop at the president’s palace and the parliament house. Going to Cheick Anta Diop University you will visit the picturesque district of  Medina and the the residential district of Fann.

HALF DAY VISIT OF GOREE ISLAND: (From 9.00 am to 12 :30 pm or from 2 :00 pm to 5 :00 pm)

Just   twenty minutes from Dakar Port, the ferryboat will arrive at Goree. Goree island carries the heavy burden of 300 years slave trading in West AFRICA. The island ranks today among the classified monuments of the World Patrimony. You will visit the Slave-House and will listen to a lecture delivered by the curator. Visit of the auction block, the ethnographic Museum, the fort and interact with the inhabitants.

HALF DAY ARTS TOURS

The Tour, conducted by a senegalese specialist  of Arts will take you to visit IFAN museum with its exclusive collection of Arts gathered from all over  West Africa. You will visit the  National gallery of Arts (exhibition of modern Senegalese Paintings) The Underglass Painting  with exhibition on the streets (popular art) the Sand-Painting galleries. End of the Tour around 1 :00pm.

HALF DAY TOUR TO KEUR MOUSSA: (Only Sundays from 9 :00 am to 12 :00 am)

You will leave Dakar going through the  “ Niayes ” (Green vegetables belt  surrounding Dakar)and join Keur Moussa just 15 miles outside Dakar. Here in a monastery built in the early 1900 benedictine monks celebrate  the  Sunday mass with the accompaniment of traditional African music instruments. You will pray and meditate at the sound of the Koras, balafons, soft drums. A profound moment of communion.

HALF DAY TOUR CAYAR: (From 2 :30pm to 6 :00pm)

 This tour will take you to visit the fishermen village of Cayar Situated some 40 miles from Dakar where you will attend to the arrival of the big game fishing : hundreds of fishermen pouring out of their picturesque canoes thousand and thousands of fishes. Then the shore becomes a wide market where fishermen and women retailers bargain : a festival of sounds and colours.

HALF DAY TOUR TO THE PINK LAKE: (From 9:00am to 12 :30pm or 2 :00 pm to 6 :00 pm) 

Visit the Pink Lake one of the rarest natural phenomenon of the world :  the lake takes its pink colour from some micro-organisms and shows a high concentration of salt, as a miror it sparkles in the middle of sand dunes. You will meet the   “salt harvesters”  with their colourful  tackle, meet and interact with the fulanis ethnic groups leaving in the surrounding villages.

HALF DAY VILLAGE FESTIVAL

This tour will take you into a traditional village where you will be welcomed by the Chief and the notables with the purest African tradition of hospitality. You will meet  the villagers and interact with them. A traditional folklore ceremony will be organized to your honour: songs, typical dances, Senegalese wrestling will gather all the inhabitants.

FULLDAY ETHNICITY OF SENEGAL: (From 9 :00am to 5 :00pm)

Leave hotel early morning. Visit the old town of Rufisque with its small, narrow streets surrounded by two story houses with black - Smith balconies. Visit different villages and farms, meet various ethnic groups.  Stop to see a herd of long horned west African cattle being tended by the semi-nomadic Peulh herdsmen.. You will visit the town of Thies with its huge market rich of african fabrics and medicinal herbs . Also visit the Art Tapestries Manufactory famous all around the world. Next we will enjoy a nice meal in one of the beach restaurant in the Saly resort area. Afternoon free for swimming. While returning to Dakar, visit of other villages.
