LOCATION : The Plettenberg, a 5 star Relais & Chateaux Hotel built on a rocky headland with breathtaking vistas of the sea, mountains and miles of golden sand in one of the most spectacular resorts in Africa - Plettenberg Bay. Our 38 luxury rooms and suites are all air-conditioned and offer a truly idyllic and indulgent experience. We have two swimming pools, one of which is heated, and both visually flow into the ocean below. Experience fabulous sightings of dolphins and whales in the bay from the hotel terraces. For the more adventurous there are numerous excursions and activities within close proximity to the hotel. Other hotel facilities include an award winning wine cellar, stocked with a selection of the best local wines and available for special occasion private dining, and a gift shop - offering a unique selection of specialty items and clothing from the area.

ACCOMMODATION: Overlooking one of the world's most beautiful bays, this African contemporary house enjoys a view of magical sunrises, whales breaching in the winter months, and pods of dolphins rejoicing the whole year round.

Gentle sandy and ocean colours filter through the house with a mix of textures and lighting that creates a warm and relaxing atmosphere. A mix of dark stained floors and sisal carpeting are throughout the house.

The main bedroom boasts an incredible view and leads out onto the deck and private pool. Sheers and heavy curtains play on the windows giving a romantic feel to this bedroom.

The open plan lounge and dining room are on a split level. From here you can enjoy beautiful ocean views. The galley kitchen is well stocked and beautifully designed. The house is equipped with flat screen televisions, DVD players, air-conditioning and every other mod con one could imagine.

The Beach House is situated next to the hotel's main building. Decorated in soft creams and blues with bleached wooden floors, it makes the ideal private getaway, while still having access to all the main hotel facilities and a 24-hour butler service.

The Beach House consists of two en-suite bedrooms, a large sitting room with fireplace, dining room and small service kitchen. The main bedroom leads onto a sundeck and private swimming pool, with spectacular views of the bay and mountains. The house is fully air-conditioned.

These suites are superbly and individually decorated with varied views of the sea. Most of the Premier Suites have French doors and step out balconies.

Restaurants : This restaurant embraces views of Formosa Bay that are unsurpassed along this stretch of the beautiful South African coast. The mood is relaxed, the décor stylish contemporary, and the food modern South African.

Sand is open for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Breakfasts offer a sumptuous buffet of fresh fruit, cheeses, cold meats, cereals and yoghurts, or a full cooked English breakfast of your choice. Keep an eye open for the chef's special "cooked breakfast" selection.

Indian Neck & Scalp Therapy: The warmth of the steam cabin calms the body to prepare for this intricate pressure point massage. Warmed oils are used to deeply nourish the hair & scalp during the treatment

Ka Huna: Also known as Hawaiian Temple Style Massage, this sacred, unique bodywork is a dynamic experience, which leaves one feeling cleansed and rejuvenated. Using music and long flowing movements, this massage is highly energising yet deeply relaxing

Hydrotherm: Pillows filled with warm water support your body, while the heat of the water creates a sensation of floating during this exceptionally calming massage.

Decleor Spa Mosaics: Prepare for this treatment in a warmed steam cabin, infused with essential oils of pine & cedarwood. The pumice, loofah & herbal extracts used in the full body exfoliation are rinsed off under the jets of the Vichy shower, providing a thorough hydrotherapy, detoxifying cleanse. A calming Thai massage, using Decleor's rich balms, soothes the muscles of the body to end the treatment.
