The lodge is located on Lemala Hill on the uppermost, eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site, in the volcanic highlands of northern Tanzania. The crater forms part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area which covers 8,300sq kms (3,200 sq. miles).
This World Heritage Site has been set aside to preserve and integrate the diverse values and interests of wildlife, local people, archaeology, flora, tourism and the area's environment and ecology. The Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is, and will remain as, the only tourist development on the eastern rim of the crater and thus offers our guests unique and spectacular views down into the crater floor and of the sunsets over the western horizon. Another major advantage of this site that our guests can enjoy is the fact that their crater safari begins within five minutes of leaving the lodge.

All of the 91 double bedrooms are very spacious and each two queen sized beds and a separate dressing area. Each room has a glass fronted verandah, where you may enjoy a private view of the Crater The lodge has 6 single rooms, all of which have a queen sized beds and glass fronted sliding doors.

Reception
On arrival you will be welcomed with a hot towel and a glass of refreshing juice, much needed after the long journey. From the reception area you will see the breathtaking view of the crater..
Lobby
The lobby is very spacious, has a high ceiling and a glass dome. Tea and Coffee are freely available to our guests in the coffee bar area. The lower lobby has large glass doors, which open onto the verandah, with a view of the pool. Here you can enjoy cocktails, while watching the most spectacular view of the sunset anywhere on the Crater rim.
Dining
The restaurant is in the shape of a rondvale, has a high roof and large glass windows to view the crater. From the inside the ceiling resembles the inside of an umberella.
The menus offer good choice and at dinner you will have the opportunity to try a traditional African dish.
Bar
This cosy area has 4 real fires and comfortable seating, where you can relax and enjoy your drinks at any time of day. The bar area has roof to ceiling window.
