The main guest area - built in Zanzibari style and artfully decorated with traditional carvings and ornaments - includes a bar, lounge, library, dining room and grand verandah that overlooks the pool and the ocean. All areas are furnished in elaborate colonial simplicity, creating a comfortable, yet luxurious atmosphere. Enjoy a sundowner in one of our traditional plantation chairs on the verandah or, after dinner, relax to the exotic sounds of old Tarab music at the Sultan-style bar in the center of our main house. Dining outside on a balmy, tropical night is a truly special treat.
Anna of Zanzibar reflects the many cultures which have left their mark on Zanzibar over the years. Lunches are a sumptuous mixture of flavors served on the verandah or, if you wish, by the seaside. Alternatively, enjoy a seafood barbeque on the beach, offering the catch of the day from the very ocean lapping at your feet. The seafood is fished by fisherman in the traditional way - fishermen whose families have lived on the food-rich east coast of the island for centuries. As the highlight of your day, dinners include several courses, with a main course choice of fish, meat or vegetarian dishes. Seafood is of course the specialty of their private restaurant. |
All four of the luxury villas are situated in their tropical garden with views directly onto the Indian Ocean. Each suite includes a separate lounge area, a bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. The rooms are furnished in a luxurious fusion of colonial and original Zanzibari style and have private terraces overlooking the ocean. They provide full room service on request and each suite is equipped with the amenities suited to five-star luxury, including a mini bar with a wine cooler, tea and coffee-making facilities, an individual room safe, a hairdryer and wireless internet connectivity. Their Master bedrooms are equipped with air-condition and ceiling vans. They want you to enjoy the scenes and atmosphere of Zanzibar's beautiful east coast, but a television and a telephone are available in the main house and, in addition to the wireless internet access in the suites and the main house, RIM (Blackberry) is also functional on the property. |
The temperature of the Indian Ocean is pleasant all year round, and the tidal differences allow for a range of activities. Low tide is good for long walks all the way to the outer reef to observe the abundant marine life in the rock pools. High tide is time for excellent swimming and snorkeling in the warm water. The beaches are literally miles long, perfect for gentle strolls or exhilarating bicycle rides all day long. |
