Beyt Al Chai takes it romantic name from the history of the building, which in years gone past,
used to be a tea house.
Zanzibar's nobility would meet on the rooftop in the shade of the swaying palms and enjoy a fantastic
spiced tea chatting and laughing for hours until they could admire the beauty of the setting sun, all
of which can still be enjoyed from the beautiful rooms of Beyt al Chai today.
Each of the six fully en-suite bedrooms and suites are unique. No detail has been over looked.
Rich brightly coloured organza and silk curtains billow in the breeze around genuine antiques
some of which date back to the days of the Sultan.
Every room is fully air conditioned but if you want to open the windows and enjoy the late night
call of the Muezzin there is also a ceilling fan.
The spacious and breezy lounge is furnished with huge comfortable sofas and armchairs placed
to create different sitting areas to give privacy and comfort for those who want to relax,
write postcards, read books or just sip a cool drink and enjoy gentle music in the background.
This is the ideal place to take it easy in the morning after a lazy breakfast or in the evenings
to admire the sunset after an exciting day walking around the Stone Town.
