Inaugurated in 1950, the traditional Novo Mundo Hotel, located in an exclusive area on Flamengo Beach, right next to Catete Palace, is a part of the city’s history itself, as well as a part of Carioca’s life.
The two ironwork lions placed at the Hotel entrance have fascinated children throughout generations. The Jacquemart sculptures were created originally to adorn Baroness Geslin’s “School for Girls”, located at former Rua do Príncipe, currently Rua Silveira Martins.
They were 4 majestic lions, however, when the school was demolished, only those two were left which are now at the Novo Mundo Hotel.
When the subject is majesty, we have to mention the “King” which was always a guest at the Hotel: "King” Pelé, used to stay at the Novo Mundo Hotel with the Santos Soccer team whenever there was a game in Rio As a matter of fact, he was a guest at the hotel when he scored his thousandth goal.
Besides the Soccer teams, the Hotel today also hosts athletes from different sports, such as tennis players, swimmers and marathoners.
Meeting point for the Brazilian political elite’s ever since the Catete Palace was the government’s headquarters, the Novo Mundo Hotel has been hosting governmental leaders from all over the country.
Technology is constantly updated at the Novo Mundo Hotel. The computerized system is reputed as one of the best hotel computer systems in the market and the computer room for client’s personal use has been recently enlarged.
As for the Grand Prix Bar, it now offers broadband Internet access spots. In addition, the Hotel also offers guest rooms in every category with high speed Internet access.
In response to our clients’ demands, the latest opening was the fitness room, with a view of Flamengo Beach.

| ROOM FEATURE |

Novo Mundo Hotel has 231 rooms, available in two different categories: Executive and Economy floors. Within these categories, you can choose from Standard guestrooms, Superior and De Luxe. It also offers separate floors for non-smokers and rooms for allergy sensitive persons.
Each unit is equipped with air conditioning, in-room safe deposit box, a refrigerated, private bar, telephones with direct dial for local and international calls, and cable TV.
On all floors, there are the Garden and Bay suites. They offer a beautiful view of the Catete Palace gardens, Guanabara Bay, and the Sugar Loaf.
The Executive floors are located between the 9th and the 11th floors. These units have an upscale décor, with beautiful woodwork floors and bathooms including amenities such as hairdryer and magnifying mirror.
On the 12th floor, there are the Junior, Executive and Presidential Suites whitch are more spacious with a separate living-room and high speed internet access. Some units face the Corcovado.

Room Service
Room service is available 24 hours a day at Novo Mundo Hotel and is always ready for any request, from breakfast to snacks, complete meals, beverages and desserts.
Fitness Room
Recently opened, it is a place for those who wish to remain fit, or for those who simply want to workout during free time. The place is equipped with modern equipment, such as stepper, treadmill, stationary bicycles and muscle building.

Novo Mundo Hotel offers the convenience of an office with comfort offered by the Hotel. Computers with high speed Internet access are available to all the guests, as well as printing service, 24 hours a day.

MEETINGS & EVENTS: The
modern Convention Center, renovated in 2002, has 10 meeting
rooms of different sizes and capacity for up to 300 participants.
Besides its modern décor, it offers technological resources
such as fast Internet access in the meeting rooms and data
transmission lines, allowing video conferencing. All audio-visual
equipment is available. The Events Department staff is prepared
to give support for a wide-ranging variety of meetings, for
business as well as social occasions.
DININGS & BARS: The
Flamboyant Restaurant can please the most demanding gourmets.
Breakfast, with its plentiful buffet, is the best way to start
the day. An excellent choice for a get-together with friends
is to sample our delicious feijoada, served on Saturdays.
Live, soft piano music is the perfect complement for your
lunch or dinner. For a lighter meal, the Coffee Shop menu
has sandwiches, snacks and drinks.

With a privileged location, from the Novo Mundo Hotel you can have a glimpse of the widely renowned postcard view from Rio de Janeiro: the Sugar Loaf next to the Guanabara Bay.
Within just a few minutes, you have access to many of the “Marvelous City’s” main tourist attractions, such as the Christ Redeemer’s Statue at the Corcovado Mountain, the Maracanã Stadium and Copacabana Beach.
Close to the Santos Dumont airport and a block away from the subway station, going to and from the Hotel is fast and safe: in only 5 minutes you reach Downtown, where most of the firms are located, as well as the city’s historical cultural passageway and the Sambódromo, stage set of the wonderful Samba School Parade, during Carnival.
Right across the hotel lies the Flamengo Park, with entertaining options for all ages. On Sundays and holidays, the Park’s lane is closed to traffic and becomes a huge outdoor leisure area.
