Rooms are tastefully decorated with an Art Deco flare and framed art posters, many of them from the Art Institute's finest reproductions. As part of our family friendly atmosphere, there are no room charges for children 17 and younger occupying the same room as their parents. We offer four room types to choose from:

Rooftop Garden, Swimming Pool and Fitness Center
The Essex Inn is the only hotel in Chicago that offers a luxurious, rooftop swimming pool for year-round use in an architecturally stunning setting with magnificent views of Grant Park and Chicago's famous skyline. The beautiful garden and outdoor area boasts three flowering pear trees in custom-lit glass planter boxes, 25 species of perennials and ornamental grass, and the best seat in town for the annual July 3rd fireworks display. The heated floor on the pool deck and adjoining sauna is made of stamped, colored concrete that simulates the appearance of natural slate stone and the pool terrace is made from exotic Brazilian hardwood.
Adjacent to the pool and sauna is our 1,350 square foot Fitness Center, which has a large selection of cardio machines, weight-training equipment, CrossTrainers, Lifecycles, treadmills and free weights. While you work out, you can watch one of 6 televisions to keep you entertained.
The Garden Pool and Fitness Center is open from 6am-10pm daily (closed from 11am-11:45am and 5pm-5:45pm daily) and is free to all hotel guests. |

The Savoy Bar & Grill
Onsite dining and drinks are available for your convenience at the Savoy Bar & Grill. It's the perfect place to people-watch as the parade of activity across the street in Grant Park entertains you as you enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at this coffee shop and bar. The place has a distinct ambiance - the walls are decorated with memorabilia from musical acts, and an original mural depicting Chicago's jazz history graces the wall in the bar. Dinner features Greek, Mexican, and Italian specialties, as well as ribs, roast sirloin, and fried shrimp. |
