ROOM FEATURES

All rooms are designed and furnished to be an intimate retreat, reflecting the timeless elegance of The Buccaneer. Each room features a private patio or balcony for maximum enjoyment of our spectacular views and cooling breezes. Conveniences include air conditioners, small refrigerators, safes, hairdryers, telephones, satellite television, irons and ironing boards, coffee makers, shower/bath tubs, double sinks and ceiling fans. Some rooms have soothing whirlpool tubs. Cribs, roll-aways, DVD players, VCRs, and CD players are available by advance request. Luxury Beachside Doubloons Named for the gold Spanish coins that washed up on the beach from sunken galleons, the Doubloons are the newest and largest of our accommodations. Located on the East side of beautiful Mermaid Beach, these private and luxurious villa-style accommodations have sitting areas with picture windows and marbled floors, patios and balconies with dramatic views of the sea and Christiansted Harbor. Each oversized room can interconnect through the patio or balcony to another Doubloon, and offers guests the option of ground floor convenience or second floor privacy. Fine furnishings, walk-in closets, spectacular baths with whirlpool tubs and separate showers make these rooms a favorite for honeymoon guests.

Ficus Suite This two-bedroom suite, located above the Grotto beach and pool, features a master bedroom with king bed, bath with whirlpool tub, and spacious patio overlooking the sea. The second bedroom features two queen beds and full bath.

Frigate Suite A luxury suite located above the Grotto beach and pool, featuring a master bedroom with four-poster king bed, full bath with double shower and separate tub. The sitting room has two day beds and a half bath. Spacious patio overlooks the pool, beach, and sea.
Frigate Room An elegantly-appointed room that can connect with the Frigate Suite, featuring two queen beds, spacious bath with double shower and tub, picture window and patio overlooking the pool, beach and sea.

Deluxe Oceanfront Our most popular room category, the spacious Oceanfronts are perched above the shore between Grotto and Mermaid Beaches. They sport distinctive 16-foot high wood ceilings and picture windows that frame magnificent sea views. Each room has a sitting area, and a stone patio that fronts the sea below. Just a minute's walk to either beach, these rooms offer the advantage of optionally connecting to another to accommodate families requiring two or more rooms. Favored by guests who enjoy the sound of the surf.

HOTEL FACILITIES AND AMENITIES

Breakfast is as light as a fruit plate or substantial as banana pancakes. Either way, the sea view is eye opening. Lunch casually at the beach or pool on savory sandwiches, soups and salads. In the evening, island elegance prevails. Classic and Mediterranean specialties, often with a tropical twist, may be complemented by the fine wine collection. The lights of Christiansted twinkling below infuse a satisfying sense of place. Later, there may be dancing to jazz combos or steel drum bands.
The Terrace Located in the Great House, The Terrace offers covered, open-air dining with views of the manicured fairways, Caribbean Sea and Christiansted Harbor. A complimentary full breakfast is served to resort guests. Dinner selections feature classical cuisine with Caribbean accents. The Terrace Bar A favorite gathering place for cocktails and conversation after-hours. A light-fare bistro menu is available. The Mermaid The Mermaid is located beach side, and features an extensive a lunch menu of savory seafood and specials, soups, salads and sandwiches, ranging from all-American favorites to island specialties and vegetarian. There is also a full bar, including frozen island favorites and vintage cocktails.
The Grotto Grill Offers lunches including hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers, served beach side at the Grotto Beach and pool. Sugar Mill Long a popular site for weddings, our landmark Sugar Mill is available for private dinners, whether for a romantic two-some, VIP event or a family dinner. At once dramatic and cozy, the Sugar Mill's ancient limestone and slate walls encircle while letting in the twinkling night sky above. Custom Sugar Mill menus are created especially for your pleasure.
The Brass Parrot Located in the Great House, the air-conditioned Brass Parrot has panoramic views of the sparkling lights of Christiansted. Ideal for special events, meetings or receptions, it can seat up to 80 indoors and 70 on the balcony.

Beach Activities and Water Sports Guests receive complimentary use of ocean kayaks, snorkeling gear, floating mats, beach toys and games at our staffed Beach Shacks located on Mermaid and Grotto Beaches. Ping-pong and beachside basketball are also offered. Learn-to-scuba classes are available for guests 10 years old and over. Guests successfully completing this complimentary two-hour session may opt for a shallow open-water dive on another day, at extra charge. The Hideaway Spa at The Buccaneer will pamper you from head to toe. Nature and History Walk Join general manager Elizabeth Armstrong on Wednesday mornings for an informative narrative on the flora, fauna and fascinating history of The Buccaneer. Fitness Center and Jogging Trail Complimentary use of our fitness equipment, including treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent cycles, leg curls, lat rower, bench press, bicept/tricept curl, leg extensions and free weights, is available 24/7. For outdoor fitness, a meandering two-mile trail that includes Par Course work-out stations can be accessed in the early morning and late afternoon hours. Manager’s Cocktail Party Enjoy steel pan music, hors d’oeuvres and rum punch at the Tuesday afternoon party hosted by the Armstrong family and the guest services staff. Folkloric mocko-jumbies, or stilt dancers, provide unique island entertainment and provide a great photo opportunity. Crab Races The weekly running of the crabs is a Buccaneer tradition, and is especially appreciated by the under-betting-age set. Yoga, Qigong, Pilates, Meditation Private sessions are available by appointment. Kids Camp Parents get a break and kids get to have fun at our complimentary Kids’ Camp for 4-12 year olds, from 9:30am-5:30pm, with beach fun, games, crafts, movies and other age-appropriate activities. Art Classes St. Croix artist Jane Aiken leads a watercolor class on our beautiful Great House Terrace, with expansive views to serve as inspiration. Nightly Entertainment Conclude your day with dinner or night-cap at The Terrace, located in the Great House. Live local entertainment is scheduled nightly.
