The General Post Office (GPO) is beside the Morning Market in Vientiane. Normal mail service is inexpensive and generally reliable, however for urgent or valuable mail (either to or from Laos) EMS or courier service is recommended.

Public transportation in Vientiane is very basic. 3 and 4-wheeled taxis are mostly old, not metered and few drivers speak English. New metered taxi or "lavi taxis" can be hired in Vientiane.
Vientiane-Wattay International, 4km from the city, approx. 20 mins from town. Taxis available, but the rate (approx. US$4) is negotiable.
