Originally a fortress built by the Portuguese in the early 17th century to defend Macau against hostile European nations and local pirates. The Fortaleza de Barra was transformed into an enchanting Portuguese hotel known today as Pousada de São Tiago.

Cascata Bar
A cozy bar tucked away from the main lobby area, Cascata Bar is furnished with elegant crystal lamps and lush leather couches. The trendy corner offers the perfect place to enjoy a mid-afternoon break with a light snack or cocktails at sunset. The bar also serves Spanish tapas and afternoon tea. Cascata Bar offers daily afternoon tea, cocktails and drinks.
The Terrace

La Paloma

CHAPEL OF ST JAMES
The small Chapel, erected in the Barra Fort in 1740, was dedicated to St. James, the saint adapted by the Portuguese army, and the statue above the altar depicted St. James in military uniform. He wears high boots and the soldiers at the fort believed that at night he would leave the Chapel and patrol the ramparts, to inspect his troops thus making it a legend.
In 1978, the Chapel was restored and the statue of St. James cleaned and painted. As in the past, it became an integral part of the main building, adjoining the reception area and cocktail lounge.
WEDDING ARRANGMENTS
They can arrange blessings and floral decorations for the Chapel and around of the hotel; lunch or dinner reception followed by their Wedding Menus, Buffets at their Os Gatos Restaurant and Terrace, or indoors at Cafe da Barra. In addition, photographer & video operator, live music and entertainment, wedding dress & suit rental can be arranged.
