HOTEL DESCRIPTION
Yangon,
the capital of Myanmar was originally a “Mon” fishing
village and gained prominence in the 14th century. Its name was
Lagun, which was associated with the Buddhist Shrine “Kyak
Lagun”, now known as the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, the city’s
most important landmark. Overlooking
the Yangon River, the Strand is located in the main commercial /
diplomatic district of Yangon, a 30-minutes drive from the International
Airport. There
are 32 suites featuring high ceilings, polished wooden floors
with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The Strand Suite, the
premier suite, features a master bedroom, two sitting rooms,
dining room and two bathrooms.

suites are all of a similar design, with deluxe suites offering
a better location and views. All suites are tastefully furnishes
with comfortable chairs and sofas, either king or twin double
beds and bathrooms feature separate bath, shower, with full
amenities. A personal safe, remote-controlled “satellite”
television and local art/antiques are included in every suite. |

HOTEL FACILITIES AND AMENITIES
RESTAURANT & BARS: The
Strand Cafe, with its big, teak-framed windows, looks out onto Strand
Road. Globe chandelier lighting, floors of tile inlaid with teak,
dining chairs of sturdy egg-cane rattan and black ceiling fans give
the meandering room, with all its intimate spaces and corners, a
timeless charm. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, with the
menu featuring Burmese and Western cuisine. There is also afternoon
tea daily. The Strand Grill is perhaps Yangon's most elegant dining
room, dressed with large black-lacquer prints from Bagan, a vaulted
ceiling, skylights and chandeliers and a dinner menu made for fine
dining. A classical guitarist completes the room's refined mood.
The Strand Bar offers a full range of drinks, a charming atmosphere,.
and a two-piece jazz band performing every Friday.
Lobby
Lounge : The Lobby Lounge, with its colonial cane furniture and
marble floors, is the centre of all activities at The Strand. It
is a popular meeting place for a drink or business discussions.
Local musicians play the Burmese harp and xylophone daily.

Strand Hall: The Strand Hall is a grand ballroom capable of
accommodating 500 people for a sit-down dinner and up to 1,000
for receptions. The hall can also be separated into two rooms
for conferences and meetings.
Jewellery
Gallery : Two hotel shops offer a range of locally-made precious
jewellery, gems and silver.
