First Day: Varna – Rousse – 220 km

Arrival at airport Varna in the afternoon. Meeting at the Airport Varna by a representative of ASTRAL Holidays and professional speaking guide. Deparure for Rousse. Arrival at the city and accommodation in Rousse in Ana Palace 3* hotel. ‘Welcome” info cocktail and useful information about the tour. Overnight.

Second Day: Rousse – Ivanovo Rock Monasteries – Arbanassi – Veliko Tarnovo – Kostencovci – 170 km

Breakfast. City tour in Rousse (The Monument of Freedom, The Freedom Square, The Profit-yielding Building, Lyuben Karavelov Library, The Urban Lifestyle Museum, Holy Trinity Church). Rousse is a model of the influence of the European architecture on Bulgarian cities. Its appearance is the fruit of the efforts of numerous architects, civil engineers, technicians and builders. Many prominent foreign professionals have worked in Rousse – the architects Friedrich Grunanger, Nino Rossetti, R. Paul Branck, the civil engineers Ya. Shamardjiev, T. Tonev and many others. Notwithstanding the individual style of each of them, they have given the city the unmistakable general appearance of an architectural ensemble. Their buildings are in the Neoclassicism and Secession styles that were typical in Europe between the mid 19th century and World War I. Departure for Ivanovo at about 11:00.

Arrival there. Sightseeing of the Ivanovo Rock Monasteries (2 restoration churches). Departure for Arbanassi. Arrival there  and lunch. Sightseeing of the two Churches in the old village. Departure for Veliko Tarnovo at around 16:30.  City tour in  Veliko Tarnovo - The Archeological reserve Tsarevets Hill and its restored fortified wall; Baldwin’s tower, in which the Latin Emperor Baldwin has been locked up after his capture by Tsar Kaloyan in the defeat of the crusaders in 1205 near by Odrin; The Palace of the Bulgarian kings, which is a separate fortress that spreads on an area of 4872 square meters, the Throne hall and the palace church St. Petka; The second big architectural complex of Tsarevets – the Bulgarian patriarchate; The Forty Holly Martyrs church. At 19:00 departure for Kostencovci – an incredible pretty village, huddled up in Gabrovo Balkan, at 7 kilometers from Dryanovo Monastery. The settlement is the only one of its kind restoration of ancient Bulgarian houses, which ancient architecture, life style and culture has revived the spirit of the Bulgarian nation. Accommodation in houses that are renovated in folk Bulgarian style. Opportunity for dinner in a tavern /optional/ - that offers typical Bulgarian dishes and meals. Overnight in Kostenkovci village in traditonal “old Bulgarian houses”. Every thing in the rooms are of an antiquarian value. Each of the rooms in the house disposes of: TV-set, stereo, bathroom.

Third Day: Kostencovci – Etara – Shipka church – Kazanlak – Koprivshtitza – Sofia – 355 km.

Breakfast. Departure at 09:00 for Etara. Arrival there at 09:45. Sightseeing of the Architectural-ethnographic complex “Etara” – the only one museum in open-air in Southeastern Europe, which spreads on an area of 60 decares and represents the authentic life of the typical Bulgarian craft settlement since the epoch of the Revival. Departure for Shipka church. Arrival and sightseeing the church. Departure for the rose valley – Kazanlak. Lunch in Kazanlak. Arrival in the town and visit of the Rose museum - the only one of its kind in the country and the Tomb of Thrace - declared as a cultural monument by UNESCO in 1979.

Departure for Koprivshtitza at about 15.00 and arrival there. The city of Koprivshtitza is a museum town, which has preserved in compactness more than 250 monuments from the Revival period. It is directly connected with the Bulgarian history – on April 20th, 1876 here was fired the first rifle which started the April uprising. Today you can enjoy the incredible atmosphere of the Revival houses which have entirely preserved their architecture and coziness. Departure for Sofia at about 18:30. Arrival and accommodation in LION 3* hotel. Overnight.

Fourth Day: Sofia – Rilski Monastery – Sandanski  – 230 км
Breakfast. At 09:00 City Tour in Sofia (Round tour of the most interesting cultural and historical landmarks in the town of Sofia); sightseeing of Sofia’s center: the church St. Petka Samardziiska, the St. Nedelya church, the National Art Gallery; the Russian church St. Nikolai – a typical example of the Moscow architectural style; Synodical Chamber – built in the spirit of the mediaeval Bulgarian architectural art (unique mural paintings); St. Sofia church (dating back to the 6th century); Alexander Nevski memorial-church (1904) and the Crypt (the basement of the templ); the branch of the National Art Gallery; SU Kliment Ohridski, the building of the National assembly; the Ivan Vazov National theatre (built in neoclassical style); Boyana Church, build in the 11th century (UNESCO heritage). Departure for Rilski Monastery at about 12:00. Arrival at 13:30 and lunch. Sightseeing of the Rila Monastery – the largest ancient historical monastery complex of the Bulgarian culture and architecture from the epoch of the Revival. The monastery is famous as the Holy Rilska Cloister. Centuries on end it has played an exceptional role in the Bulgarian history, in the struggle for spiritual and political freedom for the Bulgarians. Sightseeing of the church Virgin Mary’s Birth, the Hrelyov’s tower, the chapel Transfiguration, the monastery museum. Departure for Sandanski at 16:00. Arrival at about 17:30. Accommodation in Sv. Nikola 3* hotel. Overnight.

Fifth Day: Sandanski - Melnik – Rojenski monastery –  Bansko – Yagodinska Cave – Devin – 325 km
Breakfast. Departure at 08:00 for Melnik. Sightseeing of the picturesque old Melnik Departure for Rojenski monastery and sightseeing of the monastery. According to the historians, the monastery was founded during the time of Alexi Slav - a Bulgarian boyar who ruled the Rhodopean territory during the 12 -13th century. Today the monastery is restored and opened for visits. Departure at 11:30 for Bansko.

Arrival at  about 13:15 and optional – lunch here. Sightseeing of Bansko - one of the most famous Bulgarian winter resorts. Its preserved rich cultural-historical heritage, Bulgarian crafts and folklore, great number of traditional taverns, hotels, and original cuisine, combined with the marvelous nature of Pirin Mountain has turned Bansko in a unique tourist center. At 15:00 departure for  Yagodinska Cave – very interesting and unique cave. Arrival there at 17:00 latest and sightseeing of Yagodinska Cave (the sightseeing is min. 45 m.). Departure for Devin at 18:30. Arrival and accommodation in SPA HOTEL DEVIN 4* in the town of Devin. Overnight.

Sixth Day: Devin – Shiroka Laka – Bachkovo Monastery – Plovdiv –150 кm
Breakfast and at 09:00 departure at 09:00 for Shiroka Laka. Arrival at 9.30 and sightseeing the the village of Shiroka Laka. Departure at 10:15 for Bachkovo Monastery via one of the most beatuful and famous mountain resort Pamporovo. Bachkovo monastery ranks second only to Rila monastery both with regard to size, and architectural significance in Bulgaria – a real holy cloister. Arrival at 11:45 and sightseeing the monastery. .

The trip continues to the town of Plovdiv. Lunch Departure for Plovdiv at 15:00 and arrival at 15:45. City tour in Plovdiv - Visiting the Old town and sightseeing the following interesting landmarks: the Ethnographic museum, The Ancient theatre (2nd century), Houses from the Revival period. Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is an important strategic, industrial, trade, scientific, cultural and communication center and it boasts of an old and rich history. Accommodation in BULGARIA 3* hotel - Plovdiv. Overnight.

Seventh Day: Plovdiv – Jeravna – Nessebar – Sunny Beach – 360 кm.

Breakfast. Departure for Jeravna at 09:00. Arrival here at about 12.00. This architectural ethnographic reserve stands on the picturesque flanks of the eastern Stara Planina Mountain. The Renaissance houses are distinguished with luxurious inner and outer architecture that give a unique charm to Jeravna. Lunch in Jeravna. Departure for Nessebar at 14:30.. Arrival at about 17:00. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe. Sightseeing of the old Nessebar, which is declared as a cultural  monument. Departure for Sunny Beach at 18:30. Arrival there and accommodation 3*+ HTL. Overnight.

Eight Day: Sunny Beach – Varna – Airport – 125 km
