| HOTEL DESCRIPTION |
Rome
is a beautiful city steeped in history, combining the ancient
remains of a two thousand year past with the excitement of a modern
European Capital. It offers its visitors more to see than any
other city in the world. Hotel de Russie is located in the heart
of the city between the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo and
is within easy walking distance of the key sights, fashion houses
and Via Condotti.
It is also within easy walking distance of some of the most famous
attractions within the city, including The Colosseum (the Classical
Amphitheatre) - one of the most awe-inspiring monuments of the
ancient world which in surprisingly good repair. The Vatican City
(Papal state) including St Peter's and the Sistine Chapel is a
ten minute walk from the hotel.
Among other attractions that are only minutes away are The Pantheon
on Via del Seminario, built by the architect emperor Hadrian two
thousand years ago and is a huge domed roof housing the tomb of
Raphael, and The Santa Maria sopra Minerva - a Gothic thirteenth
Century Church in Centro Storico that houses the tombs of wealthy
Romans and priceless frescoes. |

| ROOM FEATURES |

Hanging
on the walls of the rooms there are none of the usual reproductions
of period prints typical of Grand Hotels (in Rome as elsewhere),
but only "genuine" signed photography (in itself a genre
made to be reproduced) with large colour photographs of flowers
by the great photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
The walls, which are deliberately just painted, are all in very
delicate and restful pastel hues, as is the upholstery. There
are various types of bathroom, but they are all in marble or marble
mosaic. The bathroom designs range from the classical to the contemporary,
but in all cases the most classical materials are used. |

RESTAURANT: Le
Jardin du Russie. Hotel de Russie focuses on delivering good
food in a great atmosphere which attracts both our hotel guests
and the local community, rather than simply being seen as
an extension of the hotel.
