The Apex is a four-star hotel in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket
alongside the Apex City hotel. Both hotels are a stones throw
from Edinburgh castle and command views of the castle. Outside
there is a selection of bars and restaurants with outdoor tables
to choose from in Summer. The castle, the city’s main attraction,
is accessible by steps from Grassmarket. This is a direct, if
strong, climb up Castle Wynd (but consider it an aerobic workout)
to reach the Edinburgh Castle high above.

Accommodation : The Apex International has 171 guestrooms spread over five floors. All rooms feature parquet floor entranceways and contemporary decor with deep-coloured fabrics, oversized wood headboards, suede upholstered chairs, and limited edition black-and-white photographic prints by celebrated Scottish artist Richard Demarco.
Rooms come equipped with wireless Internet (surcharge), DVD players, tea and coffee making facilities, and direct-dial phones. Tiled bathrooms have black granite counters, wall-to-wall steam-free mirrors, walk-in showers or shower/tub combinations, and complimentary rubber ducks.
Some rooms have castle views and others overlook George Heriots School, the spires of which are said to have been author JK Rowling’s inspiration for Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter novels.

Restaurant : Heights - Narrow restaurant located on top floor of hotel with floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of Edinburgh Castle, which is lit up at night. Warm decor in wood, marble, chocolate brown upholstered chairs, and white linen topped tables. Serves contemporary Scottish and international dishes. Open for breakfast daily, and dinner Monday to Saturday.
Metro - Modern split-level bar and brasserie overlooking the Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle. Lower-level brasserie features dark wood floors, red tables, and leather bench seating, and serves light lunches and dinner from an international menu. Upper-level bar has low tables, leather sofas, and a plasma-screen TV.

The hotel houses five conference rooms, with capacity for up to 200 people, and able to accommodate business meetings, wedding receptions, and banquets.

There
are two options of dining in the hotel. The Heights Restaurant
offers finer dining high above the Grassmarket in a room with
warming tones of wood and marble. There is a glass expanse to
Edinburgh Castle beyond. The Metro Brasserie, meanwhile, is ideal
for light lunches to catch up with friends, to enjoy an afternoon
latte to relax, or a beer or cocktail with colleagues to round
off the day. It is informal, relaxed, friendly and fun.
Conference : The
hotel can also handle meetings and conferences up to 200 delegates.
