HOTEL DESCRIPTION: Built in 1687 as the grand baroque home of Edinburgh's Lord Provost, Prestonfield is now Edinburgh's most luxurious five-star hotel with 23 stylishly opulent rooms and suites.Opulence, theatre and luxury are combined in James Thomson's quirky and stylish reworking of this A-listed historic century mansion where minimalism is banished and maximalism rules! All of Prestonfield unique and romantic bedrooms features a comfortable seating area, a desk, a collection of antiques and individual characterful beds dressed with fine linen and piled high with cushions.
Each luxurious room features expansive views over Prestonfield's secluded gardens and parkland to Edinburgh's iconic hill, Arthur's Seat, over the adjacent golf course and Royal Holyrood Park or to the historic ruins of Craigmillar castle. Some rooms feature views in two directions.

Elegant, chic and bright with French doors onto its own private covered terrace, this Chinoiserie-styled room is Prestonfield’s largest private dining room and offers direct access to Prestonfield’s gardens and lawn.

Dramatically panelled with painted scenes as a souvenir of an eighteenth century Grand Tour, the green and gilt Italian Room is one of Prestonfield's most historic rooms. The most sought-after private room in the city, it offers the opportunity to dine in a room that has played host to Presidents, Prime Ministers, Royalty and stars of every age - from Boswell, Johnson and Benjamin Franklin to Oliver Reed, Lauren Bacall and Elton John.

Stuart Room
If ever there were a room rich, ripe and dissolute then the Stuart may be it, with its dramatic red, black and gilt décor and luxurious furnishings this is the most striking and dramatic of Prestonfield’s private rooms.
