LOCATION Kolašin is located at 954 m of altitude and offers excellent vacation both in winter and summer. Its altitude and favourable climate make Kolašin a true aerial spa.
A special attraction for tourists is Biogradsko Lake located within the National park “Biogradska gora” which is one of three preserved, unspoiled forests of Europe.
Biogradsko lake is at 1094 m of altitude, criss crossed by numerous walking paths, where restless rivers Tara and Morača stream along, cradled by 4 mountains Sinjajevina, Bjelasica, Ključ and Vučje that embrace this charming town.
There are two national parks here – Biogradska gora – untouched forest not far from Kolašin and mountain chain Durmitor with Tara river canyon (under protection of UNESCO).
Biogradska gora, a home of wild forest and the magnificent canyon of the Tara river, yet another fascinating pearl of nature. A large number of sunny days in summer and a large quantity of snow in winter, make Kolašin a full year tourist destination.
Kolašin is home of one of the most beautiful Montenegrin rivers – Tara and its canyon surrounded by cliffs and mountains. This town was founded in 1652 as the outpost on the caravan route from Podgorica to Bijelo Polje. The ruins of the fortress and gun powder depot remain here. In 1878, by the Berlin Congress Act, Kolašin was included in the territory of Kingdom of Montenegro.
Nowadays, it is the centre of the National Park "Biogradska Gora", well known for its unspoilt forests and glacier lakes.Not far from Kolašin is a Ski-centre Bjelasica with long, gentle ski slopes and steady snow cover. It is rather suitable for beginner skiers, but advanced sportsmen can wind their slope as well.International phone code is 381.
