LOCATION: A
palatial building from 1894 which was named after its first occupants,
the Dukes of Santo Mauro. As it is very common in this type of properties,
after the Dukes left it, the house became residence of several embassies
until in 1990 it was purchased by its present owner, a prominent
Spanish hotelier who transformed the place into a luxurious chateau-hotel.
The location of this hotel is by no means the most desirable to
visit Madrid on foot, this is more a hotel for people who like a
luxurious residence in a quiet distinctive district, and move around
by taxi or limousine. The house is composed of two buildings: the
original Dukes Palace now fully restored, and an outside Pavilion
which was built recently to house additional rooms. The better rooms
as one would expect are in the palace, specially the ones on the
first floor. The decoration is more contemporary than is usually
found in a chateau hotel. SHOW MAP

ACCOMMODATION:
The
hotel, which was restored in 1999, combines the classical
style of its architecture with avant garde and contemporary
details. Its 37 rooms are fully equipped, and there are junior,
two-story and presidencial suites, as well as eight non-smoking
rooms. The rooms offer a wide variety of television channels,
music channels, a hydromassage shower, and many also have
the palace's original Italian marble fireplaces, which have
been restored.
