LOCATION: The
building of the hotel, the work of the architects C. Ferrater and
J.M. Cartañá, won the National Prize for Architecture
and Construction for 1992-1993. Inaugurated by the King and Queen
in 1992, shortly before the Olympic Games, the hotel is a faithful
exponent el the "new frontier" of the hotel sector in
Barcelona. Of spectacular and daring design, the hotel balances
the beauty and elegance of such classic and noble materials as marble
and wood with the sobriety and strength of concrete, steel, and
glass. The hotel's most spectacular space is the lobby. Dominated
by a sculpture of X. Corberó, it constitutes a Kind of interior
patio which, as a vantage point in the form of a pyramid, gives
access on each floor to the salons and guest rooms through surrounding
hallways. SHOW

DININGS
& BARS: Highest-quality
cuisine and unmatched service: these are the trademarks of
the hotel's restaurants and bars.
From Chez Vous, with its luxury ambience, which marries intimate
conversation, the enjoyment of the exquisite dishes and a
wine list to satisfy the most demanding connoisseurs, to the
more informal Café Polo, with its varied yet select
buffet. The hotel's bars are also notable for their air of
distinction, which sets them on a truly higher plane. Choose
from Aris Bar, with its classical English style, or the Lobby
Bar, where you will be accompanied by the melliflous tones
of a perfectly-tuned piano. And, last but by no means least,
the Bar Terraza on the first floor, which provides a refreshing
break from meetings in the adjoining function rooms, which
can themselves provide the ideal setting for social and business
meals. |
