HOTEL DESCRIPTION: Svalbard's historic Spitsbergen Hotel is centrally located in Haugen in Longyeardalen, with superb views across the waters of Adventfjorden and the striking peak of Hiortfjellet. The hotel is within easy reach of the town centre, local attractions and tax-free stores. The hotel has preserved its historic character from the time when it was a staff centre and entertainment venue for the mining company Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATION: The hotel has 88 rooms whereof 5 suites and 16 superior rooms. All rooms are of high standard and several of them are decorated using historic interiors such as the Store Norske-suite and the Bergmester-suite. From January 1st 2008 all our rooms are non smoking rooms, and we will no longer offer any rooms where smoking is allowed.
HOTEL FACILITIES: Spitsbergen Hotel has a number of meeting rooms, as well as smaller group rooms. The distinctive boardroom is an excellent venue for board meetings and management gatherings. Standard meeting room equipment is available, along with a course leader's office. All meeting rooms have broadband internet access and a telephone socket. Restaurants Funktionærmessen: Restaurant serves superb meals, with views of Longyeardalen, the town and the striking Hiortfjellet. With a kitchen grounded in French culinary traditions, Funktionærmessen Restaurant offers a high quality menu. In addition to international dishes, the restaurant also offers arctic specialities based on ingredients such as seal, whale, reindeer, grouse, char and occasionally polar bear. In the Funken Bar you can enjoy tasty snacks in pleasant surroundings. |
