HOTEL DESCRIPTION: The building that is now the Lady Hamilton Hotel, and is listed for its cultural significance, actually dates right back to the 1470s, the time of Sten Sture the Elder. The hotel building was originally three separate properties. A merchant named Lorens Erdtman eventually bought them and converted them into one single building. Majlis and Gunnar Bengtsson purchased the property in 1975 and turned it into a hotel. Lady Hamilton’s cellar even contains a 15th century well! This entitled the owner to a lower fire insurance premium in the 18th century. The well is now used as a plunge pool in which hotel guests can cool off after taking a sauna.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION: The hotel’s intimate and romantic atmosphere is reinforced in the hotel rooms by the antique wall cabinets, antique (although now empty) aquavit bottles and traditional wall paintings in the style of folk art from Dalarna Province.

Like everything else in our hotels, this is merely a small proportion of the fantastic collection of antiques that belongs to the Bengtsson family, the hotel owners. As part of the rustic theme, all our rooms have been named after flowers that are the symbols of different Swedish provinces.
