The first owner of Park Avenue Hotel was the City of Gothenburg with the Broströms, Swedish Lloyd and Transatlantic shipping companies, the Götaverken and Eriksberg shipyards plus SKF and Volvo as major shareholders. SAS bought the hotel in 1979, making it the SAS Park Avenue Hotel, later renamed Radisson SAS Park Avenue Hotel. As of January 1st 2005, the hotel is incorporated into the Elite Hotels of Sweden group under the name Elite Park Avenue Hotel.
