FISHING
The Musandam
(26deg.N-56deg.E), on the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, overlooking
the Straits of Hormuz is bordered to the west by the warm waters
of the Arabian Gulf and to the East and South East by the vibrant
and plentiful Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
The land and
seascapes have altered little over countless centuries, you will
be following in the wake of seafarers who have plied these waters,
trading and fishing, for over 5000 years. Here you can marvel at
the stark beauty and breathtaking panoramas of the rugged coastal
landscape, from the comfort of fully equipped Ocean Active Fishing
boats or the Al Marsa Live aboard Dhows.
The boats are
available for either day charters or live aboard charters. The boats
are based in the town of Dibba, Musandam on the East Coast of the
United Arab Emirates. The boats travel up to 45 miles into the Musandam
depending on species targeted and duration of charters. The boats
are fully kitted with fly fishing, spinning, jigging and trolling
equipment. The species that we target are Giant Trevally, Great
Barracuda, Orange Spot Trevally, Big Eye Trevally, Kingfish, Queenfish,
Yellowtail Barracuda, Emperor, Grouper, Cobia and Tuna. The Musandam
has some amazing water to fish with mountains dropping into the
blue sea and big currents and rips that are alive with fish.
Boats
We offer a 34ft Hareb Marine Boat with Twin 4 stroke 225 outboards
fully kitted for flyfishing, spinning, jigging, plugging and gamefishing.
The second boat that we offer is a 25ft Boston Whaler with twin
140hp outboards also fully kitted.
Liveaboard Charters
Ocean Active offers live aboard trips to the Musandam, these trips
vary in duration from 2 nights three days to 6 nights seven days.
We can accommodate from 2 to 16 anglers. Fishing boats are provided
for 2,3 or 4 anglers per boat
Cost
All trips are quoted as per the inquiry, and duration. The cost
of the charter includes boat, skipper, fuel, fishing equipment and
cold drinks. Food is not provided on the fishing boats but you are
welcome to bring your own
Live aboard

The liveaboard charters include all the items as above, including
all meals and rooms onboard the Dhows.

Operating from
the small, bustling harbour of Dibba al Bayah, our day-trips venture
into the Lower East territory of the Musandam Peninsular, with Zighy
Bay and Khor Haffah in the South and Lima Rock in the North. Some
of the most fertile waters in the Indian Ocean are found here, hosting
an abundance of marine life including regular sightings of Humpback,
Bottlenose and Spinner Dolphins. Occasionally the graceful Manta
Ray and mighty but sociable Whale Sharks and Sunfish can also be
spotted.
Our fully crewed
adventures offer you the choice of an action packed 'hands on' sailing
experience or an easy day on the water just lazing around on our
boats spacious trampoline nets, taking in the dramatic scenery,
- or a bit of both!
Maybe you'd
rather sail off, find yourself a secret beach, anchor, have lunch
ashore then chill out and swim for a while. The choice is yours!
Boat
'Freebird' is our Corsair F27 sailing trimaran. This design is legendary
among the multihull fraternity offering a rare combination of dazzling
performance, comfort and safety. These attributes make her an ideal
day charter boat for groups of upto 6 guests plus 2 crew.
Trampoline nets
abound on the F27 providing plenty of space to lounge around on,
while the cosy, cave-like double 'aft' cabin is ideal for children
to play in with ultimate safety, this leaving parents more free
to enjoy the ride! The boat boasts 100sq/ft of awning for sun-protection,
even in the hotter months this makes cruising a pleasant experience.
