- Wafi City
Dubai number one place to go for things to do. Wafi

2 - Creek
Walk and Danat Dubai Berth
This Stop offers excellent views and cruises
on the creek, in particular highlighting Dubai modern
commercial centre on the other side. If you think it looks
like impressive by day come at dusk when the lights are
on. Look also at the quays, around which are clustered
dozens of traditional wooden dhows.
The Bastakia Quarter is situated
close by. Dating back to the early 1900's. it is one of
the oldest heritage sites in Dubai. Here you will see
distinctive wind towers, narrow winding streets and mud
walled houses - a real insight into how Dubai's residents
used to live!

- Dubai Museum
Al Fahidi fort was erected around 1799 to both
defend the city against invasion and as a residence for
the ruler, and is now thought to be the oldest building
in Dubai. Housed within this beautifully restored fort,
Dubai Museum's diversed collection offers a fascinating
insight into the rich history and cultural heritage of the
city. 4000 year old artefacts are on display as well as
life like exhibits depicting life in pre-oil days, making
this an essential part of any visit to Dubai |

4 - Dubai
Old Souk Abra Station
Narrow and winding, Dubai Old Souk offers dozens
of shops selling all kinds of textiles from around the
world. Shoes and Indian snacks can also be bought here.
Next to the Souk can be found
an Abra (water taxi) Station, where one can travel across
to Deira, This traditional mode of transportaion is still
the most convenient way of crossing the Creek, Boarding
is to the left, alighting to the right.

- Jumeirah Mosque
One of the most beautiful mosques in the region,
and certainly the most well known in Dubai due to its size
and elaborate design. Jumeirah Mosque is particularly beautiful
at night, when subtle lightning enhances its features, Entry
is normally restricted to Muslims. However, volunteers from
the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for cultural understanding now
offer a tour of the mosque every sunday and thursday morning.

- Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, Heritage and Diving Village
Once the seat of government and former home of
the late ruler of Dubai, this restored palace dates back
to 1896. Located at the mouth of the Creek next to the Heritage
and Diving Village, it now exhibits a collection of historical
photographs, stamps and money. With its wind towers and
layers of rooms built around a central courtyard, it offers
an excellent example of traditional local architecture. |

7 - Gold
Souk
Dubai, the city of gold is famed for its gold
shopping, and the gold souk is without doubt the most
popular place for this in town. It is famed the world
over for its low prices and the shear variety on offer.
Gold is available on every form imaginable, from the bracelets
and rings to gold ingots.
For a real taste and smell
of Dubai, this stop is also conveniently located for visits
to the spice souk. Nearby you will also find the covered
souk where all kinds of inexpensive good can be found
amongst the many alleyways.

- Al Sabkha Abra Station
This stop, next to Dubai's modern commercial
centre allows access to the creek, Deira side. Traditional
wooden dhows may be seen, offering visitors a colourful
glimpse of Dubai's trading heritage. Rows of Dhows line
the banks, unloading and loading produce before setting
off Iran, East Africa and India, as they have done for generations.
An Abra station can be found only a short distance away,
offering picturesque and traditonal transport back to Bur
Dubai. |
