Souk/Market
of Al Arsa
In the heart of old Sharjah, tucked away behind a row of shops,
cafeterias and a mosque on the waterfront, is a narrow alley
where vendors sell silver jewelry, Indian handicrafts, Omani
chests, daggers, Gulf pearls and some antiques. Visit a traditional
coffee shop where people gather to play cards or dominoes,
close to a typical hairdresser for men. Notice the old benches
where the men sit and chat and while away the day. It has
the flavor of the old Sharjah, of a time gone by...
Here
you will find the original Khan & Sons and Pinky's shops,
selling Indian furniture, wrought iron candle sticks, chairs
and tables, wooden boxes and many more unusual knickknacks.
You may notice a shop with an old green door selling dusty
coffee pots, silver jewelry and old oil jars - it is said
this shop used to be the Custom's house and still boasts its
original door. Here you will be able to by oriental souvenirs
to carry joy to friends and family, also memories of a lifetime.
Then take the alley to the newly renovated section, wonder
abut this one of a kind market like no other in the GCC and
the world, with a UAE Sharjah type. In every country with
old history, there is a market for you to stop by, and at

The Blue Souk/Market
An Inside Look

The
Blue Souq has to be one of Sharjah's most famous landmarks.
Its unique Islamic design featuring hundreds of thousands
of blue tiles makes a visit here unforgettable. It is actually
split into two wings, with a connecting undercover bridge.
The lower floor is open plan, with a wide avenue down the
centre, and shops on either side range from jewelry to clothing
to electronics. There are plenty of stands selling fresh juice
and snacks. The upper floor is more compact and has a more
traditional souq/market feel to it. The shops here tend to
sell rugs, antiques, and more traditional artifacts. The Blue
market ranges between the old and the new, offering even good
from neighboring countries at the Middle East. The shops are
open from 9am to 1pm and then again from 4pm to 11pm. Most
shops stay closed on Friday until the late afternoon, after
5pm.

Gold Souk/Market
Shopping

to buy Gold at good competitive prices, come to this wonderful
one floor Gold Center that offers the most wonderful Gold
variety of all times. Between the Old Orient style, the modern
day fancy and luxury, this Gold Center is a Joy to the hearts,

never ceases to please the souls. As you see in the middle
picture, the whole market is available at a Glance at both
sides, go Gold hunting in this charming atmosphere, enjoying

Al-Majarra Souk
Sharjah
is among the seven Emirates/states of the UAE known for renovating
the Old within new Modern day design, while Abu Dhabi builds
the new with the taste of the Old style, as you can see in
the pictures, those pictures that speak thousands of words
on their own, giving you and Idea what to expect on your shopping
day at this part of Old New history times. A traditional yet
modern Souq with a distinctive Arabic flavor. Designed by
Halcrow, opened in 1987 and has 50 shops. It is maintained
by the Municipality. Enclosed and cooled by air-conditioning,
it is remarkable for its modern and traditional Islamic architecture
and worth a visit for its golden dome showing the galaxy.
Note the finely chiseled wrought-iron lamps. Inside you will
find a variety of shops offering clothes, shoes, perfumes
and textiles. This Souq/market is quite popular with local
shoppers. Look for the Amiri stores that has a very nice selection
of textiles, Nina Ricci and Versace silk scarves.

City Center
A
Visit to Sharjah City Center, this very Modern Shopping Center,
also part of a chain, where you can find City Center at every
Emirate/state at the UAE union, this visit promises a lot.
City Center that provides a variety of shops, offering a lot
of brand names in the perfumes, and clothing section. City
Center is a Joy of watching the lifestyle of people living
at the UAE from all nationalities and backgrounds, seeing
them shopping side by side has its own taste as well. Yes,
