This Self-Drive tour around the south of Cyprus is a great way to experience this island. Starting in Larnaka, your journey takes you to Lefkosia, the capital; the villages of the Troodos Mountains; the town of Pafos; and the resort of Lemesos, before returning to Larnaka. As distances are short, this is a leisurely journey with plenty of time to explore.

Day 1: Larnaka
On arrival at Larnaka International Airport, collect your rental car and drive to your hotel. Of interest in Larnaka is Hala Sultan Tekke. If you want to venture further, drive to Ayia Napa, with some of the finest beaches on the island. Overnight in Larnaka.

Day 2: Larnaka — Lefkosia (Nicosia) (45 kilometres)
Depart from Larnaka and drive to Lefkosia. Sightseeing opportunities include the ‘Green Line’ that divides this capital city, the museum and the charming pedestrian area with its traditional houses, shops and restaurants. Overnight in Lefkosia.

Day 3: Lefkosia (Nicosia) — Troodos Mountains (71 kilometres)
Depart from Lefkosia and drive to the Troodos Mountains, dominated by Mount Olympus. Here, amidst thick forests, are the villages of Agros, Kakopetria and Platres, where you may want to try some of the local produce. Nearby is Kykkos Monastery, famed for its frescoes. Overnight at Troodos.

Day 4: Troodos — Pafos (113 kilometres)
Depart from Troodos and drive through attractive scenery of orchards and vineyards to Pafos, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area is rich in history – the mosaics in the houses of Dionysus and Theseus, and the Tombs of the Kings carved out of cliffs. Overnight in Pafos.

Day 5: Pafos — Lemesos (68 kilometres)
Depart from Pafos and drive along the coastal road to Lemesos, en route perhaps pausing to look at Aphrodite’s Rock and the ancient city of Kourion with its amphitheatre. Lemesos is an appealing beach resort. Places of interest include Lemesos Castle. Overnight in Lemesos.

Day 6: Lemesos — Larnaka (70 kilometres)
Spend the day relaxing on the beach before returning your car to Larnaka International Airport in time for your return flight.
