This seven-day tour combines the pleasures of modern Dubai with the unhurried lifestyle of the Omani capital. While in Dubai you may go bargain hunting in the souks and shopping malls, or take a safari in the desert or mountains, go beachcombing along golden, surf-swept sands or play golf on the Gulf’s greatest courses.

Visitors to Muscat are enchanted by the city’s attractive location and friendly people. In many ways, Muscat is one of the most traditional cities in the region but, because of its long history of trade with Africa and Asia, the old conventions are combined with the tolerance and outward-looking attitudes of the people of a seaport.

Day 1: Dubai
Arrive at Dubai International Airport, where you will be met by our representative. You can then collect your rented car and proceed to your hotel. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure.

Days 2 and 3: Dubai
Two full days to enjoy Dubai and its many attractions. We offer a wide selection of sightseeing tours and excursions, or you may wish to make your own explorations independently.

Day 4: Dubai – Muscat
Drive through the dramatic wadis and high passes of the Hajar Mountains and along the UAE’s East Coast before crossing the border into Oman. The rest of the day can be spent at your leisure.

Days 5 and 6: Muscat
Muscat is an intriguing city, spectacularly situated between the sea and the mountains. You may wish to go diving in the Indian Ocean, explore the souks of the old-walled capital, or delve into the country’s history in one of Muscat’s excellent museums.

Day 7: Muscat – Dubai
Drive back to Dubai and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Dubai
Drop off your rented car before you take your onward flight.

This exciting off-road adventure starts in Muscat. Travelling through spectacular landscapes, enables you to explore the towns of As Sawadi, Nizwa and Sur, and some of Oman’s most historic sights.

Day 1: Muscat (100 kilometres)
Arrive at Muscat’s Seeb International Airport and transfer to your hotel. You will be met by your Emirates Holidays’ representative who will deliver your four-wheel drive vehicle and brief you about the tour. Explore Muscat at leisure.

Day 2: Muscat – As Sawadi (350 kilometres)
After breakfast drive through date palm groves and dramatic mountain scenery to As Sawadi. En route visit the hot springs and impressive fort at Nakhl. Overnight stay at Al Sawadi Beach Resort.

Day 3: As Sawadi – Nizwa (280 kilometres)
Depart from Nizwa and head north towards Ar Rustaq. Visit Jabrin, the finest of Oman’s castles, built in the late 17th century and displaying traditional ceiling painting and beautifully-executed wood carvings. Overnight stay at Nizwa Hotel.

Day 4: Nizwa – Sur (450 kilometres)
Explore the souk, renowned for its intricately hand-carved khanjars (daggers) and ornamental silver jewellery, before heading east across the towering red and white dunes of the remote Wahiba Sands and through magnificent Wadi Bani Khalid to the coast at Sur. Overnight stay at Sur Mercure Hotel.

Day 5: Sur – Muscat (250 kilometres)
Visit the dhow building yard before returning to Muscat along the coast road via Wadis Shab and Quriyat. En route, you may see sharks swimming near the coastline or gazelle sprinting across the landscape. The ruins of Bibi Miriam’s Tomb can be seen at the village of Qalhat.

Day 6: Muscat
After breakfast, return the vehicle at Seeb International Airport, prior to your departure flight.
