For those who want to experience
a snapshot of Sri Lanka within a short timeframe – this
is an ideal tour. We take you to the hill country of Kandy
and Nuwara Eliya, an inland region 450 to 2,400 metres above
sea level, which enjoys a mild climate all year round.
Day 1: Colombo –
Kandy (116 kilometres)
Arrive at Colombo’s Bandaranayake International Airport
and transfer to your hotel in Kandy. In the afternoon discover
the botanical gardens of Peradeniya (once the pleasure gardens
of the Kandyan queens) and see the exotic orchid hothouse.
During the evening enjoy a traditional Kandyan dance show,
followed by a visit to the Temple of the Tooth. Overnight
at Kandy.
Day 2: Kandy –
Nuwara Eliya (78 kilometres)
Break the up-hill journey for a visit to a gem lapidary, a
handicraft centre and a tea estate. Here you can view the
tea-making process, taste a high grown brew and buy unblended
leaves. Check into your hotel and overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 3: Nuwara Eliya
– Colombo (180 kilometres)
Drive to Colombo via Kitulgala, an archaeological site. After
checking into your hotel you may want to shop for souvenirs
or bargains which can be found in factory outlet shops. Overnight
in Colombo.
Day 4: Colombo
Transfer to Colombo’s Bandaranayake International Airport
for your return flight.
Total distance: 374 kilometres.
