THE TAMANU BEACH has a history going back hundreds of years. Like all lands in the Cook Islands, the land Tamanu Beach is built on bears the traditional name ' Tamanu'. The literal translation of Tamanu is 'house of the mahogony tree'.
Formerly known as Are Tamanu Beach Village, this stunning property features 22 bungalows, 2 fresh water swimming pools, 2 bars, 1 restaurant ( with additional beachside restaurant and bar opening early 2007) and its own magnificent 220 meters of beach, right at your front door with some of the best swimming and snorkelling on the island.
The property offers 5 different room categories to choose from. The traditional studio and one bedroom lagoonview rooms all rest amongs lush tropical gardens, with the beachfront rooms situated only steps away from the azure waters of our pristine lagoon.
Tamanu Beach is family operated and offers guests a truly unique experience with a wonderful blend of tradition, culture, superb beach location and friendly local Cook Islands hospitality. |

ACCOMMODATION offers 22 rooms, 2 pools, 2 bars, 220 metres of beach front between the two properties owned and operated by two brothers and their families. An onsite restaurant ' Te Vaka Bar & Grill ' and gift shop adding value to what has become over the last 4 years a popular honeymoon & couples south seas holiday destination.
Their properties are separated by just 100m of beachfront and we expect to develop a single 3 bedroom villa in this area in mid 2006. Their room rates include complimentary tropical breakfast served at the pool bar, snorkel gear, bicycle and canoe use. Children over the age of 12 years are welcome, Tamanu Beach offers 5 room categories in two configurations |

EATING OUT AND NIGHTLIFE Tamanu Beach is ideally situated within cycling & walking distance from a number of restaurants, cafe's and bars, allowing you to eat out at your leisure.
MAJOES BAR AND GRILL offers lunch and dinner. Minutes from the hotel, established eatery. Friday night is Island Buffet with traditional dancing, then nightclub til early hours. Free pickup service.
SAMADE BAR offers drinks and snacks. Wonderful location on the lagoon-side, offers watersport rentals. Island style Umukai (feast) every Sunday afternoon.
BLUE NUN CAFE from Monday to Saturday. Situated in the town centre by the wharf. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Eat in or takeout. Great burgers.
CAFE TAPUNA offers light teas, snacks, lunch and dinner. Located in the centre of the island, relaxed good food.
CRUSHER BAR dine, dance or enjoy a drink. Thursday night Island Buffet with traditional dancing. A local favourite. Free pickup service.
TAUONO'S GARDEN CAFE Monday to Saturday. Situated metres from the hotel. Offers light teas with homemade cakes, lunch, snacks and dinner. Organic garden setting. |

FOOD AND SUPPLIES for your self-catering holiday option are available just ten minutes walk from the hotel at Rerei's Store. Rerei's is famous for its Aitutaki bread which is exported to Rarotonga! Maina Traders, the islands largest general store, can be found a few kilometres from the hotel in the town centre. There are numerous small village stores all over the island selling fresh local produce and basic supplies.
BANKING SERVICES Money can be advanced by way of Credit Card daily Monday to Friday up to 3pm from the ANZ Bank agent situated at Ralphies Bar & Grill just minutes from the hotel. Westpac Trust bank opens on Monday and Thursday only.
INTERNET SERVICES Internet access on Aitutaki is available from 2 internet cafes in the village of Amuri.
KAYAK AND SNORKELLING EQUIPPMENT Clear blue beach, right at your front door with some of the best swimming and snorkelling on the island.
LAUNDRY AND HOUSE KEEPING SERVICES Tamanu Beach provides a token operated laundry system for our guests use. All bungalows and suites are fully serviced daily. |
