Restaurants
There are three restaurants. The famous 'Haus Win' specialises in seafood and steaks whilst the new 'Janek Aben' offers full a-la-carte dining in air conditioned comfort, plus the 'Rukaen Japanese Restaurant', which is also airconditioned and provides Tapenyyaki, Sushi, Tempura style food for a select few with advance notice. There are three bars including the new 'Milek Aben Club Bar'.
You have a choice to eat in the traditional style 'Haus Win Restaurant' set along the waterfront with magnificent carved post and bearers. The 'Haus Win' features inexpensive bistro and buffet meals and occasionally a-la-carte and seafood bonanza buffets. The 'Janek Aben Restaurant' provides fine a-la-carte dining in air conditioned comfort. The 'Rakuen Japanese Restaurant' is also air conditioned and provides Tepanyakki, Sushi, Tempura style food for a select few with advance notice.
Special functions can be arranged in any of the restaurants or beside the pool, in the garden aboard one of our vessels or at Forum Park.
The Convention Centre
The Madang Resort Convention facilities are amongst the best in Papua New Guinea. The Sana Room can accommodated up to 600 in theatre style or 450 in banquet style. The Sana Room has been used for some of the most important conferences in PNG including the 1995 Pacific Forum.
Facilities
The Madang Resort has an Olympic size salt-water swimming pool, a children's pool plus secluded pools in the Raffles Wing and Villas. The Dive Shop is located near the Resort Marina. Forum Park provides an excellent venue for cultural activities. In the main complex there are shops, an art gallery, MTS tours office, a business centre, hair salon restaurant, bar and access to the Sana Convention Centre and Conference Rooms.
In the grounds there is a 'Haus Tambaran' (Spirit House) where you can see carving, bilum and other handicraft being made by the Sepik people. There are rare native orchids within the grounds as well as aviaries, animals and birds indigenous to PNG content to remain in the confines of the resort grounds. A Waterfall provides water to a barramundi pond where you can observe barramundi which are so tame you can feed them by hand.
The resort operates sightseeing harbour cruises, village tours, trekking, fishing, diving, birding, canoes, jet skiing, water skiing from the marina. Helicopter safaris can be arranged by Melanesian Tourist Services.
Activities
You may hire catamaran sail boats. Kayaks, traditional canoes, rental cars, bycles. A Game fishing boat can be used for day or overnight fishing trips.
Guest may also use the Madang Country Club’s 9-hole golf course, squash court and bowling green all within easy walking distance along the pleasant Coastwatchers Drive.
Daily sightseeing tours and cruises on the Madang Harbour, cultural shows, bird watching, eco walks as well as escorted visit to the markets (except Sunday) are easily arranged.
No other resort in PNG offers near the number of activities or have the facilities that are available from Madang Resort and Kalibobo Village.
