RESTAURANT & BARS: From the days back in the 1930's when the late Aggie ran her Bar as the then British Club to selling hamburgers and hot dogs to the US Marines in the 1940's, Aggie Grey's Hotel & Bungalows has always followed the late Aggie Grey's philosophy on food and drink…. "no one should ever go hungry while dining at an Aggie Grey's Restaurant nor should they ever complain of being thirsty"
Today the Hotel is always striving to maintain the late Aggie Grey's philosophy. Whether you're here just for a meal at the Hotel many call more legend than Hotel, then you have come to the right place. |
Whether it be casual Poolside Dining or sampling innovative cuisine at our Signature Restaurant Le Tamarina then you have made the right decision on food and drink. Today Aggie Grey's has a choice of fine Restaurants, Cocktail Bars and Lounges as well as a Coffee Lounge. Aggie's has always been a meeting place for people who like people, a Hotel where strangers quickly become friends. Since the servicemen in World War II made it their meeting place, it has attracted the famous and the not so famous travellers who have fond memories of those times.
Those were the days when the Aggie's Special Cocktail was invented…rumour has it that Aggie was serving at the Bar on a busy night and gave birth to her youngest child Alan in the store room behind the bar, and promptly yelled out…. "it's a boy"…someone else in the bar yelled out…. "free drinks on the house"….When Aggie returned to the bar an hour or so later, much of the alcohol had been consumed. While standing at the Bar with her new born son, Aggie was asked to make a cocktail and having nothing else to use she decided to make an Aggie's Special Cocktail. Till this day, the secrets of an Aggie's Special are still closely guarded by the Hotel's staff. They may tell you one thing about the ingredients.…but if you make it, it certainly will not taste like the prize cocktail from the Hotel Today, Aggie Grey's Hotel & Bungalows has a choice of 3 Cocktail Bars, each with its very own secret recipe on how to make an Aggie's Special.
