OVERVIEW

The eternal city of Rome, picturesque Tuscany, the spectacular Cinque Terre, intriguing Genoa and fashionable Milan. This vacation is the quintessence of the Italian icons, with excellent opportunities to visit some celebrated sights as well as discovering some less known gems.

We have included all the basic ingredients and planned in lots of free time for you to tailor your experience to suit your tastes, interests, budget and needs.

The mornings will be relaxed as we will not start any activities before 9 am. You will choose how busy you wish your day to be and whether you prefer to explore independently or join our fun group activities.

ITINERARY

Day 01 ARRIVE IN ROME, ITALY

Check into your hotel and venture out in the “eternal city” to experience the madness of Roman traffic and the delights of its monumental beauty. Your Tour Director will be available in the early evening to advise you on how to make the most of your Italian holiday.

Day 02 ROME (Breakfast)

An inspiring full day at leisure. The most famous sights are the Vatican, the Colosseum and the Spanish steps, however Rome is full of surprises and masterpieces to discover. Find your bearings on your own or book one of our guided experiences.

Day 03 ROME–GROSSETO–BOLGHERI–LIVORNO (Breakfast)

Time to change landscapes and to immerse yourself in the Tuscan countryside. Visit Grosseto, a friendly, laid back town, with a beautiful piazza crowned by the cathedral and many cafes. We will also spend some time in Bolgheri, a pretty little village where good food and wine are a way of life. Carry on to Livorno, a busy port town, and either spend the evening exploring on your own or join an optional Tuscan farm dinner.

Day 04 LIVORNO–LA SPEZIA–CINQUE TERRE–GENOA (Breakfast)

Travelling north, the highlight today is the visit of the Cinque Terre National Park, a unique scenic area of rare beauty. We will reach some of the colorful fishing villages by train and spend some time taking in the charm of the spectacular landscapes. We then travel on to Genoa, former Maritime Republic and birthplace of great explorers. The traditional recipe here is the “focaccia” flatbread, and you’ll be able to taste the real thing, along with visiting the quaint village of Camogli on the evening optional excursion – please note that some uphill walking is involved.

Day 05 GENOA–MILAN (Breakfast)

The morning is dedicated to relaxing or to exploring the Medieval city center of Genoa with a local guide on the optional city tour or to roam on your own. In the afternoon, transfer to Milan, the capital of fashion with a traditional heart.

Day 06 MILAN (Breakfast)

Having had an introduction to the city, you can dedicate the day to window-shopping in the fashion district (quadrilatero della moda), visiting museums, or strolling along the Navigli canals. Milan is a city worthy of being discovered, always buzzing with events and exhibitions.

Day 07 MILAN (Breakfast)

Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning.
